My research aims to improve pain assessment and management through clinically meaningful measurement, interdisciplinary interventions, and digital health. With a PhD in Nursing from the University of Edinburgh, I specialize in scale development and cross-cultural validation.
My work spans behavioral pain assessment in non-verbally communicative patients, instrument development, systematic reviews and meta-analyses, corpus-based analysis, and complementary therapies, including early-stage studies of ultrahigh-frequency spinal cord and DRG stimulation.
My current focus is culturally appropriate chronic pain assessment in Taiwan: (1) Taiwanese adaptation and validation of painDETECT and its integration into a prototype digital system, and (2) validation of the Back Pain and Gait Symptoms Scale (BAGS) for lumbar spinal stenosis. I also research pain health literacy using corpus linguistics. Recently, I have expanded into assessment development in Sng Medicine. My long-term goal is to bridge nursing science, pain medicine, and digital technology for precise, patient-centered management of chronic back and musculoskeletal pain.
